In the video, posted on TikTok last Wednesday by Tokin_tim, Kate can be seen concentrating, standing still while pointing towards a bug on the floor with her nose. She then begins charging at it, but the bug manages to escape.

The video, which has received over 335,000 likes in less than a week, comes with a caption that said: “the reason we bought a $1000 hunting dog…”

The website Pet Budget says that a puppy in the U.S. costs an average of $1,300.

The main factors that influence a dog’s price include being purebred, coming from a prestigious bloodline, coat color and markings on its fur, and age. A puppy between 2 and 4 months old is 4 percent less expensive than a newborn to a 2-month-old puppy on average.

The 2021-2022 National Pet Owners Survey conducted by the American Pet Products Association (APPA) showed that 70 percent of U.S. households, or about 90.5 million families, own a pet; 69 million families said they own a dog.

Pet owners spent a total of $123.6 billion on their charges last year, up 19 percent from $103.6 billion in 2020.

Most users on the thread loved the post and joked about the dog’s hunting abilities. One user called magluba said: “I know that fly was in FEAR.” And Moments728 wrote: “Concentration 100 percent.”

De_aus_E commented: “I thought he fell asleep while staring at it.” And Emma Persner added: “I thought I accidentally paused the video for a couple of seconds.” Steven Moat wrote on behalf of Kate: “Do these people not see me pointing???”

Another user, extraordinary.machine said: “my $0 cat does this.” And user3441840007241 added: “our dog chomps in the air to catch them, even though they are at least 2 meters away and has never actually caught any.”

Gatman365 added: “Now get a free cat from the street for the ultimate bug defense team.” Money well spent wrote Moises Vivas.

And mihaha9 pointed out: “I hear a ‘ohhh’ out of frustration she didn’t catch the fly.” Nora joked: “Never let them know your next move …”
