The easter egg that was added to Spider-Man at this fan’s request features the words “Maddie, will you marry me?” on the sign outside of the theatre in Canal street. Tyler Schultz explains in the YouTube video below that, unfortunately, a few weeks before Spider-Man’s release, his girlfriend decided to leave him for his brother. He further explains that she was upset, because having her name on a sign in the game was not the way that she wanted to be proposed to.
Schultz is right in saying that “this may go down in history as the saddest easter egg ever,” but according to the video, he is still very happy that his easter egg made it into the critically acclaimed game, as it will be in there forever. He also urges other people to use the easter egg for their marriage proposals if they would like to do that, because, at the end of all of this, he would just like to see someone get married. People have been very supportive on the YouTube video’s comments feed though, and one has to admit that this is by far one of the most thoughtful and innovative marriage proposals to date.
Spider-Man is available now on the PS4.
