The man held up a sign that read, “Hi Mom! Send Beer Money”, which included his Venmo account name. For the uninitiated, Venmo is an app that allows people to send and receive money from friends — or in this case, complete strangers.

His Venmo account was flooded with donations — in fact, more than 400 of them in one hour, by Darren Rovell’s count.
