The hour-long episode titled “The Conspiracy Collection Reveal | Jeffree Star X Shane Dawson” was No. 1 among YouTube’s trending videos with more than 7 million views as of Wednesday morning. It went live on Dawson’s channel Wednesday, just a day after he dropped the previous installment of their docuseries. The video, dropped just days ahead of the line’s November 1 launch date, showed the beauty vloggers facing a major product packaging snafu.
The reveal episode went into full swing about seven minutes in, with makeup guru Star informing Dawson that the Conspiracy line had racked up more than $500,000 in pre-sales within about 28 minutes that morning.
After documenting the final approval for the makeup collection’s Mini Controversy palette, the episode took a dark turn when Star spoke candidly about health issues plaguing his three-year-old Pomeranian, Daddy.
In a private moment with Dawson, Star shared that the beloved pet was in the emergency room due to “neurological problems.” Earlier this month, after the episode filmed but before it had aired, the beauty mogul took to Twitter to share the devastating news that Daddy had died in surgery from “complications of his medical condition.”
“I can’t put into words how much we love our pets and how much this hurts,” he tweeted.
“The Conspiracy Collection Reveal” shifted to a lighter tone when the YouTubers finally got a look at the official palette design—which will be available for purchase on Friday, November 1. The container that will house Conspiracy’s 18 shades of eyeshadow is black box embossed with the line’s signature hypnotic spiral in a shiny finish featuring 3D lettering and metal clasps.
“This is what I literally saw in my head, and I couldn’t figure it out,” Dawson marveled on camera. “Like, this is everything.”
Since the episode dropped Wednesday night, both members of the business duo have taken to social media to interact with fans and get feedback on the line. Taking their cue, fans of the internet stars shared their reactions to the palette on Twitter.
“The magic behind the creativity,” one fan tweeted about the product reveal. “Putting ideas into action quicker than I can count to 10.”
“I don’t even wear makeup and i want the ShaneXJeffree conspiracy palette,” tweeted another.
“I can’t stop crying. I can’t believe it,” Dawson wrote Wednesday night in response to the outpouring of praisee. Star, who has launched his cosmetics company in 2014, wrote “I’ve never been more proud of a project in my entire life.”
